- The candidate will responsible for engineering support in matters regarding the Safe, Compliant, Reliable and Profitable operation of the Power plant Engineering program at Kenya Airways.
Detailed Description
Principal Accountabilities (Responsibility)
Defining Technical Standards
- Define technical specifications and standards for the section for optimized aircraft cost of ownership and safety.
- Represent the airlines position on technical issues to respective original equipment manufacturers (OEM) with a view to improve reliability and cost effectiveness
- Representation of Company at Industry meetings and conferences.
- Participates in aircraft, engines & components specifications activities during aircraft & engines pre-delivery, delivery and redelivery activities.
- Liaise with manufacturers and vendors on repetitive issues affecting the fleet.
- Creates technical and economical substantiation for warranty or claim handling.
- Negotiation and delivery of service level agreements with OEM’s, Vendors, and 3rd Party organisations on technical deliverables.
Regulatory Authorities Documents Evaluation
- Prepare Engineering Control (EC) documents (engineering orders, engineering authorizations, fleet campaigns, etc) to direct the required incorporation of modifications, improvements, and disposition of Line troubleshooting and Shop requests.
- Ensure the authorized EC documents are implemented efficiently by cross divisional teams composed of Records, Planning, Line Maintenance, Engine build-up shop, etc
- Ensure timely compliance with regulatory authorities’ Airworthiness Directives (ADs), manufacturer’s Service Bulletins (SBs), service information letters (SILs) and other mandated maintenance requirement at optimized cost whilst maintaining safety standards.
- Preparation of aircraft test flights schedule and participation in Certificate of Airworthiness test flights.
Engine Performance Assessment
- Evaluate the present level of engine performance using on-wing trend monitoring, and bore scope inspection results
- Identify actions to extend or optimize on wing performance by Interim on-wing inspections, Service Bulletin compliance plan and Gas path cleaning interval adjustments.
Engine Shop Visit Management
- Develop engine shop visit work scope that defines level of work to be done and other compliances.
- Continuous monitoring of shop visit progress and resolving technical issues arising.
- Review and Approve the Engine and APU Build Specification.
- Material scrap management and disposition.
- Invoice auditing to determine accurate billing before payment.
Engine & APU Lease Return Management
- Enforcement of delivery and return conditions including engine records review, shop visit Forecasting and physical engine equipment review
- Lease technical covenant review and negotiation
- Monitoring of lessee operational and insurance obligations.
- Provide technical documentation evidence for lease payable reimbursements.
Reliability Reports Analysis, Defect Tracking
- Performs statistical analysis of aircraft systems failures, components, power plants and structures to improve management of airworthiness and maintenance cost.
- Initiates preliminary investigations and formulate a recommendation of corrective and preventive actions for conditions that are above alert limits
- Perform continuous monitoring of corrective actions to determine their effectiveness.
- Collates technical disruption data and determine dispatch reliability for comparison with the Kenya airways and industry standards.
- Ensure technical support is provided as required and when required (24/7).
Training, Development and Supervision
- Guides, appraises and encourages Development Engineers under him/her to achieve efficiency.
- Ensure all work done under him/her conform to regulatory and Kenya airways procedures to adhere to safety standards.
Job Requirements
Qualification(Minimum)
- University Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics or equivalent)
- Graduate training programme (successfully completed)
- Full type course on two aircrafts in the fleet.
- Knowledge ofanalytical software.
- Detailed knowledgeon the KCAA/EASA/FAA regulations and the Kenya Airways engineering procedures.
- Demonstrated competence in engineering practices
- In depth knowledge of aircraft systems
- 2 years working experience 1 of which must have been in Propulsion Office.
