Inventory Officer

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a meticulous and organized Inventory Officer to manage and control our construction materials, tools, and equipment. 
  • The Inventory Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring optimal stock levels, and preventing losses.
  • This role is crucial for the efficient operation of our construction projects and requires strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all inventory items, including quantities, specifications, and locations.
  • Implement and manage inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Receive and inspect incoming materials, tools, and equipment, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Organize and store inventory in a systematic and accessible manner within warehouses, storage areas, and project sites.
  • Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile them with inventory records.
  • Monitor stock levels and proactively identify potential shortages or surpluses.
  • Prepare and process requisitions for materials and supplies as needed.
  • Track the movement of inventory between storage locations and project sites.
  • Identify and report any damaged, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory.
  • Assist in the preparation of inventory reports for management.
  • Collaborate with procurement, project management, and other departments to ensure efficient material flow.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies related to inventory management.
  • Utilize inventory management software and tools effectively.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Supply Chain Management or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory management, preferably within the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
  • Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and equipment.
